The other way to punish

Placed in La Paz downtown, the administrative capital of Bolivia, San Pedro jail shares few characteristics with other penitentiary centers from around the world. It lodges about 1700 prisoner, who have to pay the "right" to entry into   the jail, having besides the fact that  life inside have to be  financed by themselves.
They buy or rent a cell where  sleeping and  have a private space, often shared with the family, since, children and women can accompany the prisoner in his new existential condition. Most of them come from a poverty and marginalization environment. On the other hand, in the jail, simultaneously that they discount their sentence they continue fighting for  survival, as outside.
